Dear Fellow Conservative,
We are The Spartan Review, a quarterly publication, rooted in conservative values and dedicated to informing the public on recent news and activities. Our mission is as follows:
The Spartan Review, an independent publication founded by students of Michigan State University on September 18, 2008, is dedicated to promoting freedom, advancing conservatism, and defending American ideals. Our hope is to provide the State of Michigan with an alternative news source that seeks truth. Our goal is to facilitate discussion on important issues. Pro Deus Quod Patria!
We are grounded in traditional conservative values. We believe in small government, a free market economy, and the preservation of traditional families. The Spartan Review consists of students along with free-lance writers. We are staffed entirely by volunteers who do not seek monetary compensation for their work.
In a time of economic upheaval, we are strongly passionate about alerting the public to outrageous and irresponsible spending. We have discovered and exposed absurd overspending patterns and vague allocation of funds within the MSU budget. Due to our aggressive and persistent reporting style, the MSU student body is taking action and pressuring university administration to be more accountable by implementing transparency. The movement is gaining enough strength to push forward the idea of a tuition freeze. There are facebook groups to support both of these movements, and the student body has even garnished a meeting to voice their desire for a tuition freeze.
We seek your support because we believe you to be equally enthusiastic about the above ideals we promote. The Spartan Review is funded solely by donations. The generous hearts that comprise the conservative movement facilitate The Spartan Review’s success. Our publication is distributed online and in print. Furthermore, our online edition allows our readers to interact with both our staff and one-another. The interaction results in online discussion regarding the issues and topics outlined in our stories. All donations will be applied to the operating costs of The Spartan Review, including website maintenance and printing fees.
If you are interested in donating please write your checks to The Spartan Review and mail them to the address which can be found at the bottom of this letter. To donate online with a credit card, please scroll down this page to the “credit card” section. Your donation will be greatly appreciated and will be put to immediate use. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to discuss how your donation will be used, please do not hesitate to contact us at your convenience.
